Student arrested for having gun on school property in Bradenton

BRADENTON – Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies have arrested a student at Southeast High School after a handgun was found inside his fanny pack.

At approximately 2 pm on Tuesday, a School Resource deputy was notified by school administrators that a gun was discovered while they searched the student for a vape device. The deputy quickly secured the handgun, and the student was detained.

No threats were made about a shooting or violence to anyone at the school. Because the student was in custody, the incident did not involve a shelter-in-place.

16-year-old Jeremiah Deondrick Williams is charged with Possession of a Firearm on School Property. Deputies are still investigating where Williams got the gun and why he had it on school property.
