Suspect accused of deliberately striking and critically injuring a woman with his vehicle on US Highway 19

LARGO, FL – A road rage incident on US Highway 19 North escalated into a serious crime when a woman was allegedly struck by a Jeep Wrangler driven by 57-year-old Boris Twillman, who had been tailgating her vehicle. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at approximately 3 p.m.

According to witnesses and law enforcement, the victim stopped her vehicle after believing the Twillman had rear-ended her. Witnesses reported that the Twillman stopped his vehicle behind the victim’s car. As the victim exited her vehicle to check for damage, she made spontaneous statements to officers while receiving medical treatment, stating that Twillman smiled at her before rapidly accelerating his vehicle toward her. The impact pinned her between the two vehicles, dragging her along the driver’s side.

After the collision, the Twillman fled the scene in his Jeep Wrangler. Officers later located the vehicle at Twillman’s residence; however, he had already left the area in his girlfriend’s vehicle before officers arrived.

Twillman subsequently contacted the Largo Police Department by phone, speaking with Sgt. Fernandez on a recorded line. He mentioned that something had occurred on southbound US Highway 19 but denied being personally involved in a crash. He also said he left his employer at approximately 2:44 PM and returned home.

Surveillance camera footage corroborated that Twillman’s vehicle was seen on Eastbound Drew Street at Keene Road at 2:51 PM, consistent with the travel time from his employer to the crash location.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries, including numerous broken bones.

Twillman was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on the following charge:

  • Leaving the scene of a crash with serious injuries
  • Attempted first-degree Murder

Twillman was arrested in April of this year in an unrelated case involving the following charges. These stemmed from an altercation involving family members and a firearm.

  • Aggravated Battery
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Battery on a person 65 or over

The investigation continues.
