St. Petersburg – Detectives from the St. Petersburg Police Department have arrested 32-year-old Savon Hunter in connection with a burglary at a local jewelry store, police said.
The burglary occurred around 2 a.m. on January 28 at Old Northeast Jewelers, located at 1131 4th Street North. Investigators said Hunter and another suspect used a sledgehammer to break into a rear door while the business was closed.
Police reported that approximately $45,000 in jewelry was stolen, along with a firearm.
Detectives located and arrested Hunter on Tuesday, February 4. He faces multiple charges, including armed burglary, dealing in stolen property, false verification of ownership, false verification of ownership, possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine), and driving with a suspended license with knowledge.
