TARPON SPRINGS, FL (September 13, 2025) – Tarpon Springs Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning on Midway Lane.
At approximately 12:41 a.m., officers responded to 522 Midway Lane after receiving reports of a shooting in progress. When they arrived, officers found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Officers initiated lifesaving measures before the man was transported to AdventHealth North Pinellas, then later transferred to Bayonet Point Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
Detectives identified the deceased as George Tirikos of Tarpon Springs.
According to the investigation, Tirikos unlawfully entered the residence, where an altercation took place. During the confrontation, the occupants of the home retrieved a firearm and fired several rounds, striking him.
Police confirmed that all parties involved have been identified and are cooperating with investigators.
The case remains under investigation by the Tarpon Springs Police Department Detective Division in coordination with the Pinellas County State Attorney’s Office as a possible Stand Your Ground case.
