Tarpon Springs, FL – On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at approximately 8:07 p.m., Tarpon Springs Police officers responded to a fatal crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 19 and Tarpon Avenue.
When officers arrived, they located an adult male deceased in the northbound lanes just north of the intersection. The victim was identified as 41-year-old Brandon Posey of New Port Richey.
Investigators determined that Posey had exited a vehicle in the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 and ran east across the northbound lanes. He was not in a crosswalk, and northbound traffic had a green light at the time.
A black BMW traveling northbound struck Posey, knocking him to the ground. A gray Ford SUV then ran over him. Both drivers involved remained at the scene, are cooperating with investigators, and impairment is not believed to be a factor.
The crash remains under investigation. Northbound traffic on U.S. 19 from Tarpon Avenue is being diverted, and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage is asked to contact Lead Traffic Homicide Investigator L. Palmer at 727-938-2849.
