Tarpon Springs Police Investigating Fatality Crash Involving a Motorcyclist on US Hwy 19
Officers from the Tarpon Springs Police Department responded to a serious injury crash, at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Martin L. King, Jr. Blvd. on Monday, November 12, 2018 at approximately 10:00 a.m.
The crash involved a 2016 Toyota Corolla and a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
According to investigators, the Toyota was traveling north on U.S. 19 and subsequently struck the Harley Davidson motorcycle, which was traveling west, on Martin L. King, Jr. Blvd., across U.S. 19.
The investigation of the incident revealed that the driver of the Toyota ran the red light, striking the motorcyclist.
The Toyota was operated by 57 year-old Carolyn Stefanski of Largo.
The operator of the motorcycle, 66 year-old Sam Bellotte of Tarpon Springs sustained major injuries and died enroute to the Bayonet Point Medical Center.
Stefanski was issued a traffic summons by investigating officers.
