The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that killed a teenager outside of the Citrus Park Town Center Mall.
On September 14, 2024, at 7:16 p.m., HCSO received a 911 call about shots fired outside of the mall. Once on scene, deputies located a juvenile male with a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 8:22 p.m.
Currently, detectives are speaking to several witnesses in an effort to identify who was involved in the shooting.
“This senseless act of violence not only robbed a family of their loved one but caused unnecessary fear and trauma to dozens of people who were just trying to enjoy their Saturday night at the mall,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Our detectives are using every resource available to hold those responsible for this tragedy accountable.”
At this time, the investigation is active and ongoing. The name of the victim will be released upon full notification of next of kin.
