Traffic Collision Involving St. Petersburg Driver and FHP Vehicle on Bay Pines Boulevard

ST. PETERSBURG — A traffic collision occurred early Thursday morning on Bay Pines Boulevard near Seahorse Drive involving a St. Petersburg driver and a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) vehicle.

On Thursday, December 11, 2025, at approximately 6:40 a.m., a 64-year-old St. Petersburg man driving a Jeep Cherokee was traveling eastbound on Bay Pines Boulevard when he failed to yield and struck a marked FHP Dodge Charger that was stopped with emergency lights activated, conducting a traffic stop on a Ford E250 van.

The collision involved all three vehicles. The Jeep driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The FHP trooper, age 24, and the van driver, a 75-year-old man from Pinellas Park, were unharmed.

The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.

Traffic in the area was temporarily affected during the response and investigation.

This crash occurred as troopers were investigating a fatality crash that occurred hours earlier at a nearby location. Information on that crash can be found HERE.
