Treasure Island Restaurant Employee Facing Attempted 1st Degree Murder After Stabbing Coworker
Treasure Island Police responded to reports of a stabbing shortly after 8 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017.
The incident occurred at Capt. Bills Beach Kitchen located at 145 107th Ave N in Treasure Island, Florida.
According to an arrest report, 35 year-old Christopher Diamond of St. Petersburg was arrested for attempted first degree murder after an altercation with a fellow coworker.
Diamond left the restaurant on a motorcycle prior to the arrival of officers. When officers arrived they found the victim with a stab wound to both the face and the back. Â Paramedics arrived and transported him to a local trauma center for further medical care.
According to police, Diamond armed himself with a knife and thrust it into the victim’s face. Â The victim was able to deflect the knife with his hand. Â As the victim turned his back to Diamond, he was stabbed in the left side of the face and upper back. Â The blade of the knife broke off and remained in the victim’s back. Reportedly, the attack was unprovoked and there was no dialogue prior.
Diamond was apprehended about an hour later at his girlfriend’s house while hiding in her backyard.
After being informed of his rights, he stated he wanted to kill his coworkers because they were talking about his girlfriend being a hooker.
Diamond is also facing felony battery after getting in an altercation with another prisoner in the transport van.
This most recent altercation was proceeded by a physical altercation with the same coworker about 2-3 weeks ago that was not reported to law enforcement. The altercation was described as unprovoked when Diamond grabbed the victim by the throat.
Diamond is currently being held in the Pinellas County Jail on $250,000 bail.
Diamond has a history of arrests and mental health evaluations in Lee County, Florida.
