Troopers investigate fatal single vehicle crash on I-275

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol continue to investigate after a fatality crash that killed a 32 year-old male St. Petersburg resident.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022 on I-275 near Milepost 21.

Investigators say that driver was operating his sedan southbound on I-275 near Milepost 21 at high speed when he lost control of the vehicle which departed the roadway and entered the outside shoulder. Once on the shoulder the vehicle collided with a guardrail, continued through a ditch and struck a tree before coming to final rest.

The driver, who troopers say was unrestrained, suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
