Troopers investigate serious injury crash along Tampa Road

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are investigating a crash that seriously injured a driver, a 39 year-old male from Tampa. The crash occurred at approximately 2:55 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021.

The van was traveling westbound on Tampa Road, west of Lake St. George Drive, when the driver lost control of the van on the wet roadway.

The van rotated to the north shoulder, traveled over the shoulder and through a metal pedestrian handrail, and partially entered the water-filled drainage ditch adjacent to the roadway.

Troopers say he was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
