Troopers Seek Additional Vehicle in Investigation of Fatal Pedestrian Collision

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian on Friday, October 20, 2023, at approximately 11:40 p.m.

A Kia Optima was heading east on 54th Avenue North, west of 28th Street North. A pedestrian entered the roadway and was subsequently hit by the vehicle.

Subsequent evidence suggests that at least one unidentified vehicle struck the pedestrian following the initial collision. The pedestrian, a 39-year-old male from St. Petersburg, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver, a 37-year-old woman from St. Petersburg, remained unharmed.

Anyone with additional information regarding this crash is asked to call *FHP or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
