Investigators say the crash occurred around 7:16 p.m. on January 7, 2026, near Seminole Boulevard and 16th Avenue SE in Largo.

According to investigators, Harvey was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe north on Seminole Boulevard when the vehicle struck a Mazda SUV at the intersection. The Mazda sustained catastrophic damage in the crash.

Authorities say Leon was driving a 2008 Infiniti directly behind Harvey’s vehicle and struck the rear of the Tahoe after the initial collision with the Mazda.

Witnesses told investigators the two vehicles were seen racing north on Seminole Boulevard just before the crash. Surveillance video from nearby businesses reportedly showed the vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed and engaging in a speed contest.

A crash data recorder download from Harvey’s vehicle showed the Tahoe was traveling 91 mph in a 45 mph zone two seconds before impact and 86 mph one second before impact, investigators said.

Three occupants of the Mazda SUV suffered serious injuries in the crash. Police said the driver suffered a broken pelvis and multiple broken bones and was unable to walk following the crash. A rear-seat passenger suffered internal injuries and a torn stomach, and a front-seat passenger suffered internal injuries and a traumatic brain injury.
