Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a boating incident early Sunday morning in Clearwater Pass. The incident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. on April 27, 2025.
The damaged boat was located just west of the Opal Sands Resort. Preliminary information indicates the boat made contact with the rocks that runs along the Clearwater Pass channel.
Two individuals sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening. They were transported to the Seminole Street Boat Ramp by private boats that assisted at the scene and then taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg. Other occupants of the boat were not injured and remained on-board and anchored.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), U.S. Coast Guard, Sunstar Paramedics, Dunedin Fire Rescue, and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office “Eagle” helicopter unit also assisted with the incident.
An investigation is ongoing.
