Two Injured Including St. Petersburg Officer After Mishap on 22nd Ave N

An officer from the St. Petersburg Police Department was injured in an incident the occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.

The incident occurred on 22nd Avenue N near 27th Street and closed all of 22nd Avenue.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department one of their officers stopped to help a disabled tractor trailer truck.  The officer and a passenger were near the jack, when it slipped, sending some wooden blocks flying.

The blocks struck the officer and passenger in the head.

Both were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg as trauma alerts.

After further evaluation at the hospital, it was reported they suffered minor injuries and were treated and released.

The driver was not injured.
