Two Motorcyclists Killed in Crash on SR-54 in New Port Richey
Two motorcyclists were killed in a crash on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at approximately 5:28 p.m.
The two motorcyclists were on a 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling eastbound on SR-54 approaching the intersection of Mitchell Ranch Road.
27 year-old Demitri Tagaropoulos of Holiday was driving a 2015 Chevy Malibu and stopped northbound for a stop sign at the intersection of SR-54 and Mitchell Branch Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Steven Gerena lost control as he negotiated a left curve in the roadway. The motorcycle traveled onto Mitchell Ranch Road striking the driver’s side of Tagaropoulos’ Malibu.
Steven Gerena and Trudy Gerena, his passenger, died at the scene. Both of the occupants were from Brandon, Florida and neither were wearing helmets according to FHP.
Tagaropoulos was transported to North Pinellas Hospital with serious injuries.
No charges are pending as the investigation continues.
