ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Two men were arrested for attempted murder following a shooting incident on Wednesday, January 29.
Officers responded to the 2200 block of 14th Avenue North at 4:42 p.m. after multiple reports of gunfire in the area. Investigators determined that two men approached another man as he was exiting his vehicle and fired several shots at him before fleeing in a black Nissan Altima without a license plate. The victim was not injured, but bullets struck his vehicle.
Officers spotted the Altima and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop, leading to a pursuit. The chase ended at 5th Avenue North and 40th Street North, where the suspects abandoned the car and attempted to flee on foot. A K9 unit quickly apprehended them.
Authorities recovered a rifle in the backseat of the vehicle and a handgun nearby. Investigators confirmed that the suspects and victim were known to each other and had an ongoing dispute.
