Two Motorcycles Collide with Barrier Wall on I-275 in St. Petersburg

Two motorcycles collided with a barrier on I-275 about 7:25PM on Sunday, November 16, 2014. An unidentified vehicle was traveling northbound in the inside center lane of I-275 south of Mile Marker 23. Two Harley Davidson motorcycles were traveling northbound in the inside lane.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, both motorcyclists were traveling at a high rate of speed and made several abrupt lane changes. As these lane changes occurred, the unidentified vehicle began a lane change into the inside lane and traveled into their path. To avoid a collision, both motorcyclists steered left and traveled off the roadway then collided with the inside barrier wall.
28 year-old Douglas Johnson of Hudson and his passenger 30 year-old Casey Lyn Roddy of Port Richey were both were ejected from the motorcycle. Johnson sustained fatal injuries and expired at the scene of the crash. Roddy was transported to Bayfront Hospital with serious injuries.
Jason Hyde, age 32 of Hudson, also collided with the barrier wall but injuries were being classified as minor and also was transported to Bayfront Hospital.
Neither of the motorcycles made contact with the unidentified vehicle which continued northbound on I-275.
According to FHP, none of the riders on either motorcycle were wearing helmets.
