Officers from the Largo Police Department continue to investigate a traffic crash that injured two people. The crash occurred at 8th Avenue SE and Donegan Road in Largo on Friday, February 24, 2023, at approximately 3:15 p.m.
According to investigators, a large box truck, which Lowes contracted for appliance deliveries, was traveling eastbound on 8th Ave SE. As the truck approached the bend in the roadway at Donegan Road, the driver suffered a medical emergency and became unconscious.
The truck ran through the guardrail, through a chain-link fence, and into several trees in the thick brush. The truck sustained significant front-end damage. Both occupants were transported to Bayfront Heath St. Petersburg for their injuries. One occupant was ejected from the vehicle and flown to the trauma center. The other occupant was transported by ground to the hospital.
No other vehicles were involved, and at this time, no criminal charges are pending.
