Two male students have been stabbed at Countryside High School and taken to local hospitals for treatment.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:23 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023, in the main concourse of the school after the first lunch session.
The 9th-grade student armed with a pocket knife was taken into custody at gunpoint. He was identified as 14-year-old Honor Akim Walker.
According to Police Chief Eric Gandy, the two stabbed male students, 9th and 11th graders, were transported to local trauma centers.
The ninth-grader was taken to All Children’s Hospital, while the 11th-grader was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa.
Walker is facing two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
The 14-year-old victim was released from the hospital after being treated for a stab wound to his neck. The 16-year-old remains hospitalized in stable condition at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He underwent surgery Thursday evening for a stab wound to his chest and abdomen.
Chief Gandy stated that Walker had a handwritten manifesto and described the attack as intentional. He went to say that the attack was deliberate, and Walker was reported to idolize domestic terrorists and serial killers while hating humanity and wanting recognition.
There is no indication that it was anything more than an attack on two random students.
An investigation continues into Walker’s history as he attended schools in many school districts in and outside of Florida. He has only been at Countryside High School since January of 2023.
