Two women seriously injured in St. Petersburg motor scooter crash

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department are investigating a serious injury crash involving a motor scooter at the intersection of 22nd Avenue South and 44th Street. The crash occurred shortly after 12 noon on Wednesday February 10, 2020.

Investigators say that two women ages 18 and 20, were riding on a motor scooter (small engine motorcycle) southbound on 44th Street South. They ran the stop sign at 22nd Avenue South, drove around an eastbound vehicle at the intersection and struck the side of a second eastbound vehicle in another lane.

The motor scooter driver and passenger both suffered serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
