A two-year-old child was killed Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a pickup truck on 49th Avenue North.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:48 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford F450, driven by a 34-year-old Valrico man, was traveling eastbound on 49th Avenue North, west of 80th Street North, when the child entered the roadway.

Police determined the child had left a nearby residence without the parents’ knowledge and walked into the path of the truck. The driver was unable to avoid the collision.

The child died at the scene.

Investigators said the driver remained on scene and cooperated with authorities. The investigation is ongoing.
