U-Turn attempt leads to deadly crash involving a motorcyclist on 34th Street North in St. Petersburg

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department continue to investigate a crash that killed a motorcyclist at 5th Avenue N and 34th Street.

The crash occurred on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, at approximately 9 p.m. when the 36-year-old female driver of a silver Nissan Altima traveling southbound on 34th Street North attempted to make a U-turn at 5th Avenue North to go back north on 34th Street North.

A black Harley Davidson Road Glide, driven by 48-year-old Ryan McKinley, was traveling northbound on 34th Street North.

They entered the intersection at the same time, and the car and motorcycle collided.

The motorcycle began to skid on the ground and struck an unoccupied parked vehicle on the intersection’s northeast corner.

McKinley was not wearing a helmet. He was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.

According to investigators, the Altima driver stayed on the scene and cooperated. The investigation is ongoing.

A gofundme site has been set up to help support Ryan’s family.
