The Largo Police Department has arrested 21-year-old Adarius Hayes and charged him with three counts of Vehicular Homicide and one count of Reckless Driving with Serious Bodily Injury related to the crash that occurred on May 10, 2025, on Orange View Drive and Ridge Road that killed three people.
The Largo Police Department worked in conjunction with the State Attorney’s Office and issued an arrest warrant for Hayes. On August 29, 2025, Adarius Hayes turned himself into the Largo Police Department and was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
On May 10, 2025, at approximately 1:43 PM, the Largo Police Department responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash with fatalities at the intersection of Orange View Drive and Ridge Road. Initial reports indicated that the Dodge Durango, driven by Hayes, was traveling at a high rate of speed and maneuvering aggressively through traffic shortly before the crash. The crash was captured on video from a FedEx truck that he passed.
As a result of the crash, two children who were rear passengers in the Kia Soul were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene: Jabari Elijah Solomon (10 years old) and Charlie Herbert Solomon Rivera (4 years old). The driver of the Kia Soul, 78-year-old Gail Price, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died from her injuries on Sunday, May 11, 2025. The adult front passenger of the Kia Soul, 58-year-old Herbert Rivera, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and survived the crash.
Following the crash, the Largo Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit began an investigation where officers spoke with multiple eyewitnesses, reviewed video surveillance capturing both vehicles, and conducted follow-up investigations on statements provided.
It was discovered during the investigation that approximately five seconds prior to the fatal crash, Hayes made a rapid and dangerous maneuver, changing lanes from the curb lane to the median lane, crossing three lanes of traffic while overtaking other vehicles. Moments later, Hayes abruptly re-entered the curb lane, again crossing all three lanes without signaling. At that point, Hayes’ vehicle collided with the 2017 Kia Soul, which was lawfully executing a left-hand turn westbound onto Orange View Drive.
The Largo Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit worked in conjunction with the State Attorney’s Office to secure a search warrant on the vehicle, which confirmed that Hayes was traveling 70.8 mph five seconds prior to impact and accelerated to a maximum speed of 78.9 mph in a posted 40 mph zone at the time of the crash.
The investigation concluded that Adarius Hayes’ speed, aggressive and reckless lane changes, and disregard for surrounding traffic conditions demonstrated a willful and deliberate disregard for the safety of others, constituting reckless driving. These actions directly led to the deaths of the three victims.
