US-19 collision claims the life of a pedestrian lying in the roadway in St. Peterburg

A crash resulting in a fatality occurred on Sunday, July 30, 2023, when a 56-year-old male GMC pickup driver struck a pedestrian found lying in the roadway for unknown reasons.

The accident occurred around 2:35 a.m. on the southbound lane of 34th Street/US-19, north of 46th Avenue North in St. Petersburg.

Following the collision, emergency responders swiftly transported the pedestrian, a 42-year-old male from St. Petersburg to an area hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the pedestrian died from his injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities are investigating the incident’s circumstances to determine the factors that led to the pedestrian’s presence on the roadway.
