US Coast Guard Evacuates Injured Americans to Clearwater After Boat Explosion in the Bahamas
An female American tourist reportedly died following an explosion on-board a chartered tour boat in the waters near Barre Terre in Exuma, Bahama.
It has been reported that 10 Americans were on board along with two local crew members. Several of the other American tourists suffered serious injuries.
At 11:06 a.m. Coast Guard Seventh District watchstanders received a call from the Royal Bahamas Police Force requesting assistance after boaters suffered from various injuries.
An HC-130 Hercules airplane crew with two medical personnel from Air Station Clearwater was launched, landed in Exuma, and transported the boaters to the air station where emergency medical services awaited.
No information is available on the hometowns of the tourists or their conditions.
The cause of the incident is under investigation by the Exuma branch of the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
