Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) continue to investigate a fatality crash that occurred near the intersection of 113th Street N and 110th Avenue at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024.
Crews from the City of Seminole Fire Rescue and Largo Fire Rescue were dispatched to the reported rollover crash. They located a Chevy Z71 pickup truck on its roof on the sidewalk on the intersection’s northeast corner. A second vehicle, a Nissan Kicks, was located off the roadway on the west side of 113th Street near 110th Terrace.
The male driver of the pickup truck was medically evaluated and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 29-year-old female driver from Marlboro, Vermont, was entrapped in the vehicle and extracted by firefighters. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say that the woman was stopped eastbound at the stop sign on 110th Avenue, and the Chevy, driven by a 25-year-old Clearwater man, was traveling northbound on 113th Street. The Nissan driver entered the path and was struck by the Chevy. The Chevy overturned, and the Nissan ended up in a ditch on the southbound embankment on 113th Street.
Due to the investigation, the northbound and southbound lanes of 113th Street were closed from 110th Avenue to 113th Avenue. The roadway fully reopened shortly before 9 p.m.
