Tampa — All westbound Interstate 4 lanes through the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-4/I-275) will close overnight on Monday, January 12, and Wednesday, January 14, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.
During the closures, westbound I-4 motorists must exit using the Selmon Connector, continue onto the Selmon Expressway (SR 618), and take Exit 8 (Downtown East-West) to Kennedy Boulevard (SR 60).
Drivers traveling to I-275 south should continue west on Kennedy Boulevard, turn right onto Ashley Drive, and enter southbound I-275 using the entrance ramp. Drivers traveling to I-275 north should continue west on Kennedy Boulevard, turn right onto Jefferson Street, continue north onto Orange Avenue, and enter northbound I-275 using the entrance ramp.
Tolls on the westbound Selmon Expressway will be suspended between the Selmon Connector and Exit 8 during the scheduled closure hours. Message boards and signage will be in place to assist drivers. Motorists are advised to use caution in the work zone and remain alert for construction crews.
In addition, the northbound I-275 ramp to eastbound I-4 will close from 12:01 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, for sign structure removal. Drivers seeking access to eastbound I-4 from northbound I-275 should continue to Exit 46B, turn left onto SR 574/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, re-enter I-275 southbound, and continue to the eastbound I-4 ramp at Exit 45B.
The temporary closures are required for overhead sign structure installation as part of the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project.
