UNINCORPORATED CLEARWATER – Detectives with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Robbery & Homicide Unit continue to investigate a homicide at 1538 Illinois Road.

At approximately 1:12 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, deputies responded to the residence after a 911 caller reported hearing a loud noise and a female voice saying, “I have a gun.” Upon arrival, deputies made contact with 38-year-old Amanda Tenney, who resides at the address.

Deputies observed blood on Tenney’s legs and bloody footprints inside the home. Inside a bedroom, deputies located 60-year-old Patrick David Denney deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives determined that Tenney and Denney were in a relationship and were the only individuals inside the home at the time of the shooting. Investigators allege that Tenney attempted to clean the crime scene and did not call 911 following the incident.

During the initial investigation, deputies reported that gunfire struck a neighboring residence at 1557 Tuscola Road, which was occupied by two residents at the time. A bullet hole was located in a window and the fence separating the properties, and a .45 caliber projectile was recovered inside the neighbor’s home. No injuries were reported.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for Tenney’s residence and recovered two .45 caliber spent shell casings, along with two firearms: a Smith & Wesson MP .45 and a Zastava pistol.

On August 19, 2025, Tenney was arrested on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Wantonly or Maliciously Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling.

On September 16, 2025, detectives added the charge of First-Degree Murder.

Tenney remains held at the Pinellas County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
