Officers from the Clearwater Police Department charged 46 year-old Shelley Nicole Vaughn with aggravated animal cruelty, criminal mischief and domestic battery.
The incident took place a condominium located at 880 Mandalay Ave after a dog was killed after being thrown off a balcony on the seventh-floor.
Police were called to the condo shortly before noon on Sunday, February 27, 2022, after a male subject, who has been dating the suspect for several months, said Vaughn threw his 3 year-old pug, Bucky, off his seventh-floor balcony during an argument.
Police say that Vaughn also tossed the victim’s cell phone and keys off the balcony and struck him.
The dog was found dead on the pavement below.
Efforts to locate Vaughn, who lives in the same condominium complex as the victim, were unsuccessful on Sunday. She was located Monday afternoon and placed under arrest.
