Woman Leaving Orchestra Practice Shot and Killed in Pinellas Park

Pinellas Park Police are investigating a shooting in the 5100 block of 78th Avenue N in Pinellas Park.

The incident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 near City Hall.

Caroline Morton-Hicks, age 59 from St. Petersburg, was attending a practice session with the Pinellas Park Civic Orchestra at the Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center earlier in the evening on the 12th.

After leaving the practice session, Ms. Morton-Hicks was involved in some sort of altercation in an adjacent parking lot between the Performing Arts Center and City Hall with an unknown subject(s).

Following this altercation, Ms. Morton Hicks ran from the parking lot and was then shot by an unknown subject(s) in the street.  She was pronounced deceased on scene.

The investigation is ongoing and investigators say that no suspect description or information is being released at this time due to this being an open and active homicide investigation.
