Wrong-way DUI Driver Dead After Colliding with a Car and Seriously Injuring Four Teens
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is currently investigating a fatality crash that occurred at approximately 11:23 p.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2018.
According to FHP, 26 year old Ambreuna Brown of St. Petersburg was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes on 66th Street N at the intersection of 118th Avenue North in a 2014 Hyundai Sonata.
At the same time, 18 year-old Ryan Matthews of St. Petersburg was traveling southbound in the southbound lanes of 66th Street in a 2014 Toyota Camry.
As Brown traveled northbound in the wrong direction, she collided head-on with the Camry south of 126th Avenue North.
Brown died at Bayfront Heath St. Petersburg.
Matthews was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries.
His three passengers were identified by FHP as the following
- 16 year-old Vivian Antenucci of Seminole (serious injuries/John Hopkins All Children’s)
- 17 year-old Shelly Matos of Largo (serious injuries/John Hopkins All Children’s)
- 17 year-old Jacob Hutfilz of Palm Harbor (serious injuries/Mease Countryside)
Troopers believe that Brown was unrestrained and impaired by alcohol at the time of the crash.
