Two critically injured in St. Petersburg crash

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department continue to investigate a crash that left two people critically injured. The crash occurred at approximately 2:41 p.m., on December 23, 2021.

Investigators say a 2005 Toyota Sequoia driven by 68 year-old Yin Hua Zhuang of Clearwater was headed north on 4th Street North, when he suffered a medical episode near 70th Avenue North. The Sequoia crossed over the median and hit a southbound 2010 Nissan Sentra and a southbound 2011 Honda Odyssey.

The Sequoia continued northbound and went off the roadway striking a tree at 7300 4th Street North. Both Zhuang and a 74 year-old male passenger in the Sequoia suffered critical injuries. A second passenger, a 70 year-old female suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Odyssey was not injured. The driver of the Sentra suffered minor injuries.

The 7200 and 7300 blocks of 4th Street North were closed to southbound traffic for several hours, but the roadway is now open.
