On June 30th, 2014 officers from the Pinellas Park Police Department responded to a call of a disturbance in the area of 78th Avenue and 49th Street. It was reported that a male subject was damaging a motor vehicle and had caused injuries to a person by throwing rocks at them.

The following is a summary of the events that occurred between 10:00am and 10:30am that led to the arrest of 15 year-old male in Pinellas Park

At 10:05am the subject entered the Walgreens located at 7751 49th Street N. and selected several food items from the shelves. He past all points of purchase and made no effort to pay for the items that he had selected and was confronted by a staff member who asked him to pay for the items. He took a full 2-liter bottle of soda and threw it at the clerk. The bottle missed the clerk and fled the area on foot.

The subject then entered the parking lot on the east side of 49th Street just north of 76th Avenue. Once there he began to throw rocks at two parked vehicles while consuming the items he stole from Walgreens.  Patrons and employees of Sonic (7725 49th Street N.) observed the subject throwing the rocks at which time they confronted him and told him to stop. He approached one of the patrons a 50 year old white female a threw two rocks at her, striking her once resulting in injury.

An employee of Sonic attempted to intervene causing him to flee the area. The employee continued to follow at which time the 15 year-old armed himself with a large, heavy tree branch and struck the employee, a 29 year old, on the arm resulting in injury.

Once again he took flight and ran north to 78th Avenue where he struck a parked motor vehicle with a rock resulting in a broken windshield and a damaged driver’s side window.

He continued to flee and threw a large decorative lawn stone threw the bedroom window of an occupied residence. At this time he was located by officers and taken into custody without incident but lied about his identity.  His identity was made known with the assistance of other law enforcement personnel.

His actions resulted in more than $3000 in property damage and injury to two persons.

He was arrested and transported to the juvenile assessment center on the following charges;

Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon
Criminal Mischief x 4
Aggravated Battery x 2
Obstruction by Disguised Person
Retail Theft
Throwing a Deadly Missile
