2 Year-old Boy Dies After Being Found Floating in Neighbor’s Pool

Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit are investigating the
drowning of a 2-year-old boy who was found in a residential pool in Palm
Harbor.

Deputies were notified of the missing child at about 6:12 p.m. on Wednesday,
July 12, 2017.

The child was found at about 6:19 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.

According to detectives, 2-year-old Robert Kibitlewski was with his grandmother 48-year-old Janice Kibitlewski, in the front yard of their residence located at 3072 Sugar Bear Trail in Palm Harbor. Janice was gathering her mail when she lost sight of Robert.

Janice went inside the home and spoke with Robert’s mother, 26-year-old Rachelle Kibitlewski, who confirmed that Robert never came inside the house. Family members began searching the neighborhood and notified deputies approximately 15 minutes later.

As deputies were arriving, Janice found Robert unresponsive and floating in a neighbor’s pool located at 3075 Windridge Oaks Drive. Janice pulled Robert out of the pool and performed CPR until deputies and paramedics arrived.

Robert was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital with life threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital at about 6:57 p.m.

Detectives say the drowning appears accidental in nature.
