Four Injured in Wrong-way Crash on US-19 in Pasco County

Four people were injured this evening in the latest in a string of wrong-way crashes. This crash occurred on Friday, February 20, 2015 at approximately 8:19PM on US-19 at Sanderline Lane in Pasco County
According to Sgt. Steve Gaskins, Public Affairs Officer for the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), 30 year-old Matthew Joseph Oliver of Spring Hill was traveling northbound on US-19 in the southbound center lane approaching Sanderling Lane in a 2009 Dodge Journey SUV.
A 2005 Nissan Armada SUV being driven by 37 year-old Jose Jacquez of Spring Hill was traveling southbound on US-19 in the center lane approaching Sanderling Lane. The two vehicles collided head-on.
A third vehicle, a 2007 Suzuki 4-door, was traveling southbound on US-19 in the center lane approaching Sanderling Lane and took evasive action to avoid a collision with the other two vehicles. The driver of that Suzuki, 57 year-old Cathleeen Stiles of Rabun Gap, GA, traveled off the west shoulder of southbound US-19 and collided with an aluminum light pole during her attempt to avoid the initial crash. A falling aluminum light pole struck a fourth vehicle, a 2010 Toyota 4-door driven by 40 year-old Maria Delos Angeles Sanch of New Port Richey.
The crash closed the southbound lanes of US-19. According to FHP, alcohol involvement is suspected on the part of Oliver who was transported to Bayonet Point Medical Center with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The other three drivers all had minor injuries that were evaluated at the scene.
Charges are listed as pending at this time.
