Pinellas Deputy Involved Crash In Seminole Injures 5

Posted: April 11, 2015

At approximately 12:08 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2015, a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) Deputy reported via radio that he was involved in a traffic crash with another vehicle.  The crash occurred in the middle of the intersection of Park Boulevard and Seminole Boulevard. Additional units from PCSO along with Seminole Fire Rescue Department and Sunstar Paramedics were sent to the scene.

In a news release from Sergeant Elizabeth Brady of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, investigators determined that Deputy Matthew Ellis, driving a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria was travelling eastbound on Park Boulevard when he made a left turn into the path of a westbound 1962 Ford Thunderbird.  The Thunderbird was driven by Ryan Kogelmann which also included Leslie Kogelmann and their two children, ages 5 and 12, as passengers.

According to Deputies, Ryan, Leslie and children were all transported to a local hospital by Sunstar Paramedics for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  In addition, Deputy Ellis was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol and speed are not factors in the crash according to investigators.

The investigation continues.
