Reports of a traffic crash came in about 3:30 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2015. Sunstar Paramedics were first to arrive on scene of the crash in the westbound lanes of Park Blvd at 79th Street. The arriving units
reported heavy damage and at least one severely injured patient. Additional units from Seminole Fire Rescue, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Sunstar Paramedics, Pinellas Park Fire Rescue, Florida Highway Patrol, and two Bayflite helicopters were dispatched to assist.
The helicopters both landed next to the Wagon Wheel Flea Market and waited while crews successfully removed the injured occupants from the vehicles.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports that 27 year-old Ryan Hynst of Largo, FL was driving a 2002 Ford Taurus traveling eastbound on Park Boulevard in the center lane approaching 79th Street. For an unknown reason, Hynst lost control of this vehicle, struck the center median and entered westbound traffic. He collided with a 2014 Nissan Rogue being driven by 64 year-old Dolores Gower of Kenneth City, FL who was traveling westbound in the inside lane.
The Taurus continued to travel eastbound in the westbound lanes and collided with a 2011 Chevy Cruze driven by 39 year-old Maria Vankirk of Largo, FL. Vankirk was not injured in the crash.
Ryan Hynst, the driver of the Taurus, was seriously injured in the crash. His passenger, Adam Hynst, was critically injured in the crash. Dolores Gower, the driver of the Rogue, is also listed in critical condition. All three were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Two went via Bayflite helicopter and the other one via Sunstar Paramedics.
The report from FHP states all the occupants with the exception of Adam Hynst were wearing seatbelts and do not believe that the crash was alcohol related. Charges are listed as pending.
Westbound lanes of Park Blvd remained closed until about 6:15PM during the investigation.
