27 Year-old Motorcyclist Dead After Hitting Curb and Crashing in South Pasadena Saturday Night

Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are
investigating a fatal crash involving a single motorcycle in South Pasadena.

The crash occurred at about 8:57 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2017, on Pasadena Avenue South, west of Shore Drive in South Pasadena.

According to investigators from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, a 27-year-old Jeremy Jerome Sims of St. Petersburg, was driving a 2009 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Pasadena Avenue South, when his motorcycle struck the raised cement curb as he approached Shore Drive.

Sims lost control and landed on the roadway after being thrown off the motorcycle.

Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Sims to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.  He was pronounced deceased at about 9:30 p.m. on March 25, 2017.

Investigators say that speed and impairment both appear to be factors in the single vehicle crash.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
