Alachua Man Killed Walking Across Ulmerton Road Near 34th Street

A crash involving a pedestrian on Ulmerton Road near 34th Street killed a man Wednesday morning. The crash occurred approximately 6:45 a.m., on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.
According to Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), 23 year-old Joshua Kyle Tileston of Alachua, Florida was walking northbound across Ulmerton Road east of 34th Street when he was struck.
He walked into the path of a 2006 Honda Element driven by a 23 year-old man from St. Petersburg. The Element was heading westbound on Ulmerton Road at the time.
Troopers say alcohol was not a involved in the crash and no charges are pending.
Tileston was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Hospital where he died from this injuries.
Large traffic delays were experienced during rush-hour in the westbound lanes of Ulmerton Road and on Roosevelt Blvd attempting to enter Ulmerton Road. Motorists were asked to avoid Roosevelt Blvd north of Lake Carillon Drive and westbound Ulmerton Road during the investigation.
