Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle on Memorial Highway in Hillsborough County
Hillsborough County Deputies continue to investigate a fatality crash Saturday night in Hillsborough County.
On September 30, 2017, at 10:36 p.m., 23 year-old Angel Rivera of Tampa, FL, was driving his blue, 2007 Toyota Camry, southbound on Memorial Highway at approximately 40 mph.
The pedestrian, 34 year-old Steve Jaimes of Tampa, was walking southbound on Memorial Highway along the center of the inside (left) southbound lane.
According to a witness, Jaimes was stumbling in the roadway and did not respond to the horn honking as other vehicles swerved around him.
Due to the lighting conditions and Jaimes’ failure to use the provided sidewalks on either side of the roadway, Rivera did not see Jaimes and struck Jaimes with the center front of his vehicle.
Jaimes died at the scene.
Next of kin has been notified and no charges are expected.
