Clearwater Fire & Rescue and Clearwater Police responded to a water rescue call just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019.
The call came from behind Shephard’s Beach Resort located at 601 S. Gulfview Blvd.
An adult male was pulled from the water and bystanders administered CPR until first responders arrived.
The victim, identified as 25 year-old Nicholas Baldwin of Largo, was transported to Morton Plant Hospital where he died.
Police say that Baldwin worked at the jet ski rental business behind Shephard’s Beach Resort. After his coworkers noticed him missing, they saw him just offshore and pulled him to the sand.
The investigation continue.
