Pedestrian struck and killed by tow truck on Ulmerton Road

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is investigating a fatality crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Ulmerton Road and 34th Street North.  The crash occurred at approximately 9:17 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.

According to troopers, 23 year-old Wendy Rosa of St. Petersburg was running northbound across the westbound lanes of Ulmerton Road at the intersection with 34th Street North. She was in a marked crosswalk, however, she violated the crosswalk control signal.

Rosa was struck by a tow truck operated by Tampa Towing and Recovery that was traveling westbound in the outside lane of Ulmerton Road. The Ford F650 was operated by a 21 year-old man from Brandon.

Rosa was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where she died from her injuries.

Troopers say no charges are pending at this time.
