Structure fire at Teakwood Village Mobile Home Park in Largo
Units from Largo Fire Rescue and Clearwater Fire & Rescue were dispatched to reports of a structure fire this evening about 8:10pm. Callers to 911 initially reported that the fire was involving a vehicle next to the mobile home. Arriving units reported heavy smoke and flames involving the rear part of the structure.
The fire was at the Teakwood Village MHP which is located at 800 Missouri Avenue in Largo, Florida. The actual unit involved was at 17 Beechwood Lane.
Establishing a water supply proved difficult and units needed to coordinate shuttling water from a nearby hydrant to the apparatus actively involved in the fire attack.
A Sunstar unit and Rescue 47 established a rehab location to evaluate the firefighters that were involved in the fire attack. Â Personnel from the other on-scene units were rotated in to replace those that went to rehab.
A male occupant and his dog were safely removed from the mobile home. The occupant was evaluated by rescue personnel and transported to a local hospital by Sunstar Paramedics. His dog was handed over to a Largo Police Officer who located a neighbor that agreed to care for the animal.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
