Narcotics Overdose Prevention & Education (NOPE) Task Force and Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) to host candlelight vigil Thursday evening at 7 pm.
The candlelight vigil is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013. The event is open to the public and located at Largo Central Park.
A candlelight vigil event is being held to remember those who have died in Pinellas County from drug and alcohol related abuse. The event will also recognize those still suffering from the disease today.
The vigil will bring together a wide range of groups from the religious, government, and private sectors of the community. Pinellas County School students will also be in attendance.
Attendees will hear the personal stories from the families of those who have lost loved ones to drug overdose.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri is among the scheduled speakers; as are City of Largo Mayor Pat Gerard, the Honorable Dee Anna Farnell, Circuit Judge, 6th Judicial Circuit, and Dr. Michael Grego, Superintendent of the Pinellas County Schools.
The event is free and open to the public.
