Fallen Tree Branch Causes Damage and Injury in St. Petersburg

At approximately 6:10 a.m., on Saturday, July 6, 2024, a large branch from an oak tree broke and fell, striking two houses in the 3000 block of 15th Avenue South.

Shortly after the initial incident, an adult woman came outside to inspect the damage. A second, larger branch then fell, pinning her to the sidewalk.

Officers responding to the scene extracted the woman from beneath the fallen branch.

St. Petersburg Fire Rescue arrived promptly and transported her to a local hospital. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries to her legs.

As a result of the incident, 15th Avenue South will be closed between 30th and 31st Streets for an extended period to allow for the safe removal of the fallen tree.

Authorities advise residents and motorists to avoid the area until the cleanup is completed.
