Clearwater, FL – A 16-year-old Clearwater High School student has died following a vehicle-versus-bicycle crash that occurred early Friday morning.
Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to the scene at Keene Road and Cleveland Street at 6:38 a.m. The bicyclist was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg with potential life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, the teen was riding east across Keene Road in a crosswalk but against a red light when he was struck by a southbound vehicle traveling on a green light.
The student died from his injuries Saturday morning. Authorities closed southbound lanes of Keene Road and all lanes of Cleveland Street during the initial investigation.
The incident remains under review.
