Miami Hurricanes Linebacker Adarius Hayes Injured in Largo Crash That Killed Three, Including Two Children

Two children were pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities identified the victims as Jabari Elijah Solomon, age 10, and Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria, age 4. Their next of kin have been notified. According to those at the scene, the two children were ejected from the Kia Soul during the impact.

Several others sustained serious injuries. Three individuals were transported as trauma alerts to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg. A child was taken to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital as a trauma transport patient. One additional person refused care, and another was later transported to a local hospital. Due to the number of victims, the incident was classified as a Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident.

The Dodge Durango involved in the crash.

Police confirmed that Miami Hurricanes linebacker 20-year-old Adarius Hayes, a Largo High School graduate, was driving the Durango at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Kia Soul, 78-year-old Gail Price, suffered critical injuries. On Sunday afternoon, the Largo Police Department announced she had died from her injuries. The front seat passenger, 58-year-old Herbert Rivera, was reported in serious condition according to the latest update.

Investigators have stated that alcohol does not appear to be a factor. The Largo Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, which remains ongoing.
Traffic homicide detectives are working to determine what caused the crash, including the speed of the two vehicles.

There are no criminal charges at this time pending the outcome of the investigation.

A memorial is now setup at the scene of the crash for the two children

Ridge Road was closed between Ulmerton Road and 8th Avenue SW until approximately 9:30 p.m. as crews processed the scene.
