St. Petersburg Police Arrest Suspect in April 15 Homicide at 14th Avenue South Duplex

ST. PETERSBURG — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery with drug overtones that turned deadly on April 15, 2026, at 11:49 p.m. at a duplex located at 863 14th Avenue South.

Detectives say John Knight, 48, was taken into custody and charged with First Degree Felony Murder, Attempted Felony Murder, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

According to investigators, Knight and 56-year-old Ronnie Dials entered the duplex intending to rob the resident. During an altercation inside the home, both Dials and the resident were shot.

Dials died at the scene. The resident survived and remains hospitalized with injuries.

Police said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
