A Pinellas Park man has been arrested after investigators say he posted a threat to carry out a school shooting at a Largo learning center.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Threat Management Unit began investigating on June 2, 2026, after receiving information about a threatening comment posted on Google Maps.
Detectives say the comment, “Im gonna shoot this school up on June 3,” was posted under the address for Oakhurst Learning Center, located at 13233 102nd Avenue North in Largo.
During the investigation, detectives used various investigative techniques and determined the IP address associated with the account was linked to a specific device and telephone number belonging to 23-year-old Adam Ballou of Pinellas Park.
According to investigators, detectives contacted Ballou at his residence, where he confirmed the telephone number belonged to him. Detectives said Ballou also stated he had possession of the device throughout the day and that no one else had access to it.
Ballou was arrested and charged with one count of Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
Investigators said Ballou has no relationship or affiliation with Oakhurst Learning Center.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to keeping schools, children, and the community safe. Anyone with information regarding threats is encouraged to contact the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office at (727) 582-6200 or report information through FortifyFL.
